Substitutes, and a vote at 12-12

Somebody drops out mid-match? An admin can now put a substitute in. A 5v5 tied at 12-12 votes how it ends: overtime or sudden death. And a match with a substitute moves your Elo half as much.

Two things that used to spoil a night: a player dropping out halfway, and an overtime that never ends.

  • Substitutes: if somebody disconnects or has to go, an admin puts somebody else in their place for the rest of the match - from the admin panel, or with !sub in game.
  • Watching on the server already? You are reconnected straight onto the team. Anybody else just connects. The player coming in has to be Rush-verified, and it cannot happen at halftime.
  • Elo: a match a substitute came into moves everybody's rating half as much, because its result says less than a match the ten who started it finished. A win still gains and a loss still costs.
  • The player who was taken out is rated in full, so dropping out of a match going badly never makes the loss smaller. The match page tags the two of them Sub and Out.
  • Tied at 12-12: everybody on a side gets 15 seconds to vote. Press 1 for Overtime (first to 4 of 6 rounds) or 2 for Sudden death (the next round wins the match).
  • More votes for sudden death than for overtime is sudden death; a tie, or nobody voting, is overtime. An overtime that ends level asks again.
